There are a number of organisation that aim to help and support parents with a range of issues realting to their family life. In addition there are orgnaisations who can help parents gain qulaifications or improve a skill.

Surrey Parenting Education and Support (SPES) provides support for mums, dads and those in a parenting role such as carers, step-parents, foster-parents and grandparents, throughout Surrey.
It encourages parents to enjoy bringing up children and young people and get the best out of family life.

For many teachers and parents, developing the communication skills of young people has always been one of the fundamental aims of education.
BT Better World Campaign aims to help enhance communicatin skills with a range of free resources and courseware, from DVDs and online activities to lesson plans and comics, specifically designed to support the teaching of communications skills.
All resources have been developed in consultantion with teachers, tested in classroom and have strong links to the curriculum.

If you have a child with special educational needs (SEN) you are not alone. At any one time, on average, Surrey has about 30,00 children who receive SEN support from their schools of whom 5,000 have Statements.
Partnership with Parents was created in1994 to give the parents of children with SEN access to a range of information and support services.

Skills Improvement for Parents
There are a number of places throughout the Borough where you can get involved in learning a new skills for fun, to help you get back to work or to 'beat your gremlins' and learning to read and write.

ICT for Adults

Hands On at Lakeview run weekly ICT classes for up to 8 learners. They also offer a weekly drop ins and an internet cafe for people over 16 click here for more information.
Woking High School are pleased to now offer adults the chance to learn ICT in conjunction with Plymouth University at Woking High School. The qualification is a Certificate in Business Office Information Systems and if you are interested in enrolling on the course it is not too late!
